Data Visualization Workshop -
The way to translate data into a smart visual narrative

In an era where we are all surrounded by data – data doesn’t speak unless someone teaches it how.
A data visualization workshop is designed to give you the tools to turn numbers, tables, and reports into a clear, exciting, and compelling story.

How to think visually and present data in a way that speaks to the audience

When to choose a graph, table, heat map, or any other visualization

How to distill a central message from complex information

How to design graphs so that they are both beautiful and correct – without being misleading

How to tell a story that leads from the question to the "big insight" and motivates action

How to create the "wow" at the end – right from the first graph

Learn from someone who lives and breathes data

The team that leads our courses doesn’t just come from the classroom – they also come from the field. They live the world of data every day, teach from real experience, and know how to explain the most complex things in the most clear way. In short – you’re in good hands.

Ram Kedem – has lived in the world of Data for over 15 years, led diverse projects, professionally managed leading colleges, mentored tens of thousands of people, and wrote literature in the field of Data that is sold worldwide.

Gadi Chrust is the head of the analysis team at Plarium. Plarium is one of the largest social gaming companies in the world with over 400 million users. Gadi has many years of technical and business experience, and as part of his work he has interviewed dozens of analysts.

Michael Winner – Principal Data Scientist at the startup Yess. In addition, he worked and led data science initiatives and teams at AppsFlyer and Digital Turbine. Over 7 years of experience as a data scientist and team manager in the field, and 10 years of experience in the data field.

Dotan Antin is an analyst and BI developer at Applied Materials, a company that develops and manufactures systems that form the infrastructure of the global chip industry.
Dotan brings with him extensive experience and knowledge, and as part of his work he deals with various BI technologies.

Aviv Gelfand is a data scientist at the tech company Darrow AI. He holds a BA in statistics and data science from the Hebrew University. He is writing a thesis in the field of language models and methods to save runtime and memory in them, as part of his master’s degree at the Hebrew University.

Omar Bieber is the Head of BI at Superplay, one of the fastest growing gaming startups in the world. Omar brings with him extensive experience in the BI world from companies like Playtika and HiBob.

Building data capabilities – together with leading organizations

Everything you need to know about the course

The first module introduces the fundamentals of data visualization, distinguishing between exploratory and explanatory analyses. Students will explore the importance of effective communication in visual data presentation, setting the stage for more advanced topics in the course.

During the second module, the focus will shift to understanding different audience types and tailoring communication accordingly. Students will learn techniques for effective communication that resonate with diverse audiences and the importance of establishing credibility and trust through visual data.

In the third module, students will delve into defining the purpose of their communication and developing skills in explanatory analysis. The coursework will cover how to prompt action and facilitate productive conversations through strategic data presentation.

The fourth module covers the use of tables and graphs for effective data communication. Students will learn about different types of graphs, their specific applications, and the introduction of heatmaps, focusing on their effectiveness in visual communication.

This module focuses on the principles of effective graph design. Students will examine how to manage data over time with line graphs and explore visual weight and balance in bar charts, enhancing their ability to design clear and compelling visualizations.

The sixth module explores interactive visualization tools like heatmaps and the design of interactive scatterplots and line graphs. Students will also learn how to utilize color and size effectively to enhance the interpretability and impact of their visualizations.

In the final module, students learn to craft compelling data narratives, starting with setting the context and framing a clear problem statement. They will explore how to structure their presentations like a story, leading from initial data exploration to the climax of revealing key insights.

During the course, each student will receive access to the learning management system, which is designed to enrich the learning experience and assist in achieving course objectives.

The system offers a wide range of tools and resources that enable effective and convenient learning:

  • Study materials: All the content required for the course, including presentations, lesson recordings, practice files, and more, are available through it.
  • Discussion forum: Possibility to communicate with lecturers and fellow course members, ask questions and receive answers and clarifications.
  • Submitting assignments: Online submission of assignments and tests in a simple and convenient way.
  • Achievement tracking: View grades and personal progress data throughout the course.

The workshop is intended for people who work with data – but does not require an advanced technical background.

  • Basic proficiency in Excel or data management tools

  • General familiarity with the world of presentations (PowerPoint, Google Slides, or similar tools)

  • Interest in creating clear, aesthetic, and accurate content

  • Willingness to learn visual thinking and work creatively with information

No prior experience in graphic design or programming is necessary. Advanced tools will be demonstrated during the workshop – but no prior knowledge is required.

To be eligible for a course completion certificate, the following requirements must be met:

  • Attendance at least 80% of the meetings.
  • Successful completion of tasks
  • Submitting projects as required.

Is prior knowledge of graphic design required?
No. The workshop focuses on design understanding and visual thinking – not design software. Tools like PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Slides will suffice.

What happens if I can’t make it to the meeting in real time?
No problem – the entire workshop is recorded and will be available for viewing for 4 months after it ends.

I work with data on a daily basis, but I don’t present it – is the workshop still relevant to me?
Absolutely. Even if you don’t present to an audience, the ability to explain data clearly – in documents, internal reports, or presentations – enhances your ability to influence an organization.

Is there practice during the workshop?
Of course. The workshop combines theoretical knowledge with short tasks and practical exercises, to connect principles with immediate application.
